The following essay first appeared at Food & Dining Magazine in 2021. It strikes me as useful and appropriate to pause now and then and reflect on universals, of which this surely is one.
Today it has become a Food & Dining Magazine tradition to play against type, leave the food and drink until a little bit later, and consider the institution of Memorial Day in America.
