There’s no eloquent way to say it, Liz Huot lamented, “It’s just exhausting.”
Huot owns Grind Burger Kitchen, Oskar’s Slider Bar and Smør Nordic Bakeri with her husband Jesse. Earlier this week, they announced they would be taking a “temporary hiatus” from Grind, their flagship eatery, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on its staff’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
This one sentence summary applies not only to the Huots, but serves as an industry-wide assessment: “There are a dozen reasons why but mostly we’re all just so exhausted.”
Let’s reiterate that Grind’s break is only temporary.
