Baer’s City Winery in downtown New Albany closes ‘permanently’
Baer’s City Winery & Brick Oven Kitchen, a downtown New Albany business next to Bicentennial Park, has closed its doors permanently. A sign on the door Tuesday reads “permanently closed.”
Baer’s City Winery, otherwise known as The Winery, had been facing management issues and staffing shortages prior to its closing. The restaurant was best known for its patio space, brick oven pizza and its local wine.
The last social media post from Baer’s, successor to the defunct (albeit long-running) River City Winery at 321 Pearl Street, came on July 24. The rumorama has been brick-oven-hot, but nothing more is known about the future apart from what the reporter Gregory has filed.
Interestingly, here’s a hopeful story from 2021. With the closing today of Baer’s, of the seven mentioned, only Mickey’s on Vincennes remains open (Leaven closed earlier this year).
