The ‘Ville’s best restaurant and bar podcast is rolling in 2017. Listen in for a newsy first segment with Steve and Rick — starting with the new restaurant heading for the old Basa spot on Frankfort Avenue. Fork & Barrel will feature a classic American menu from Geoffrey Heyde, who locals will remember from the Village Anchor and SET. The owners of the failed Germantown Craft House on Goss Avenue have ditched their original idea for the space — Devil’s Due — for a simpler fast-casual concept featuring $6-$9 sandwich choices. Meanwhile, we’re wondering what’s taking construction so long at the planned ROC upscale Italian restaurant in the Highlands, which has been underway for a while now. We’re awaiting next week’s opening in Middletown of Double Dogs, a small chain that started in Bowling Green. Finally, the public announcement that Louisville Cream is coming to a retail spot in NuLu is big news for ice cream lovers, and Steve calls it his favorite in Louisville.

Steve’s interview with Dallas McGarity focuses on how the Fat Lamb, located in the busy Grinstead/Bardstown corridor, has exceeded expectations in a spot where two previous concepts failed. Marilyn Patterson talks with Rick about her two jobs (general counsel, marketing director) at the growing Norton Commons development. The neighborhood’s six full-service dinner options are gearing up for the development’s first-ever Restaurant Week, starting on Monday.

In our Favorites segment, Rick marvels at the Burnt Ends he ate at Momma’s Mustard, Pickles and BBQ on Hurstbourne. He tried a Breck Agave from the restaurant’s extensive menu of craft beer. For Steve, a healthy drink from LIFEbar at Rainbow Blossom included a banana, almond butter, cordycepts, locall raw honey, ginger, cinnamon and almond milk. Steve’s favorite food was a cured ham from Red Hog Butcher he described as fatty, lush and complex.

Thanks to our great sponsors — Norton Commons, Harvest Restaurant and Norton Commons — for presenting another great episode of EatDrinkTalk.
