Your correspondent is a card-carrying New Albanian, naturally patriotic when it comes to planting flags on yonder side of the river. As such, this opening is uncommonly delightful.
Ian and Nikki Hall have done consummately professional work in downtown New Albany with both The Exchange and Brooklyn and The Butcher, and their establishments are the restaurants-of-record in this town. They are among the principal architects of my city’s revival over the past 20 years, and speaking personally, I expect The Exchange NuLu to be a home run.

Hotel Genevieve announced in February 2026 that The Exchange, helmed by Ian and Nikki Hall, would be taking over the restaurant space formerly occupied by Byrdie’s.
